"I just downloaded your Ecuador book on my Kindle and read it non-stop. Your advice is phenomenal, both in its detail and in the larger sense about making decisions based on personal priorities. I have read lots of 'living abroad' books (memoirs and 'how-to'); yours is truly the most useful and well written I have encountered."
 ~ Catherine Faris, Portland, Oregon

The only problem I have with this book is that I did not find it 4 months sooner... I have done so much research for our move in June that was all summed up for me in this book...
Can't wait for the new book, It makes me feel like the transition will go smoother once it comes out!
Thank you again!

I learned about Connie Pombo's book from ex-pats at my hotel in Cuenca, and as soon as I returned to California, I downloaded it. This is the guide I wish I had known about before my recent excursion to Cuenca, Ecuador, a city I love.

Connie invites you to experience daily life as she and her husband live it. The advice is practical, thoughtful, and on the mark; her connections and resources are excellent.

Even though I knew much about Cuenca through previous experience, Connie filled in the missing pieces. This book is a keeper. Thank you Connie.

Happy journeying to Cuenca!

First let me say; I am not even moving to Ecuador and I find the information in this book extremely valuable! While researching a trip to Cuenca w/ our college age daughter, for Spanish programs, I came across this little gem. This writer has clearly sifted thru many, many resources and now offers the reader the small glittering nuggets of experience, to be easily picked off the bottom of the pan.
Fresh style and highly informative: This book is a keeper...

Living and Retiring in Cuenca: 101 Questions Answered (Kindle Edition)
My wife and I are in the process of making a move to Cuenca, Ecuador. This book by Connie Pombo could not have been more timely. For those that might be contemplating expatriating to Ecuador and more particularly to Cuenca, this is an invaluable resource. Connie's writing is easy to read and friendly. She shares with the reader many of her personal experiences of having lived this challenging adventure. Her humor and spirit helped us over the pitfalls and excite us about the many possibilities. Connie is careful to paint a complete picture by revealing some of the challenges on this rewarding journey of discovering a new culture and a new country. I have been researching our planned move to Ecuador for over a year on the many "expat" blogs - Connie has taken the information that has taken me over a year to gather and distilled it into a well-organized and enjoyable read. Readers will use this as a "how to" guide for years to come. Well done, Connie! ~Southbound2

Totally enjoyed the book and even though we live in Cuenca, still found out things we didn't know! Single best referral in the book was the one regarding Juan Perez! We used him from the get go and even after 5 months, still use him. We call him "The Magic Juan."  He's done everything from bank accounts, utilities, appliances, contracts - you name it! He's our go-to guy. Can't wait to check out some of the other referrals listed.

You have served potential expats well with the resources listed in the book. Hope our paths cross in Cuenca.

My wife and I are just beginning to explore the possibility of retiring to Cuenca, and I found this book to be one of the most interesting and informative resources that I've come across. Tons of important details, step-by-step accounts of obtaining visas, health care , etc., etc. Highly recommended. ~K. W. Jeter
